This antique straight keris comes from the dapur Jalak Dinding. In Javanese tradition there is the saying “Lakune njalak dinding”, which means “run like a Jalak Dinding” – a bird that is agile but cautious. This saying reflects the philosophy of keris Jalak Dinding. It symbolizes a life that should be energetic and alert, similar to the Jalak bird. The Jalak also represents happiness and overcoming problems, especially related to livelihood. For Javanese, the Jalak bird brings joy and satisfaction. The keris Jalak Dinding teaches us that we must not be idle in life. We should always move, recognize opportunities and still act cautiously and prudently. The “Dinding” (wall) symbolizes a strong inner attitude. The Tuah of the keris Jalak Dinding is based on the prayers and wishes of the keris blacksmith. The owner of this keris is said to embody the characteristics of the Jalak bird: #1 Adaptability: Easily adapts to new environments and has a good relationship with other people. #2 Communication skills: Skillful speaking and convincing. #3 Energy and ingenuity: Easily finding livelihood opportunities. #4 Mindfulness: sensitivity to danger. #5 Fortitude: Resisting temptations that could be harmful. The owner of the keris Jalak Dinding is perceived as a pleasant person who is given many opportunities and can take on responsibility. Livelihoods will also improve.  I estimate the  tangguh to be Cirebon (17th century). The pamor is Wengkon Isen. The frame along the blade symbolizes protection, demarcation and defense. It is intended to protect the wearer from external dangers. The word “Wengkon” means “surrounded” or “bounded” in the Javanese language. The frame surrounds the blade and metaphorically offers protection. Pamor Wengkon is believed to protect the wearer from spiritual attacks, temptations and negative energies. Tuah (Spiritual Power): Pamor Wengkon is associated with various positive qualities: #1 Thrift: The wearer is encouraged to be frugal and use resources wisely. #2 Protection: The frame serves as an energetic barrier against negative influences. #3 Strength: The clear line of the frame symbolizes inner strength and determination. This dapur has a simple gandik. The ganja is a ganjairas.

The warangka is in gayaman Surakarta style made from old timoho pelet wood Mbelang Sapi. The pendok is a pendok blewahan made from Mama's material. This is a mixture of different metals including a silver component. The handle is made of old tayuman wood. This is a heavy wood which sinks in the water.
